Tackboard Installation Guide

Installation of Vinyl Tackboard Panels

Important Guidelines

Our vinyl wrapped tackboard wall system’s design allows any user, architect, or designer to modernize and improve classrooms, offices, and common areas. Follow the below Tackboard Installation Guide to install your wall coverings with ease and simplicity.

Install the Tackboard over 3/8 in. plywood or 1/2 in. gypsum wallboard.

Never install directly to studs.

Acclaim panels to room temperature for a minimum of 24 hours.

Match panels for color orientation before applying adhesive.

Use a good construction adhesive.  If using a notched trowel, do four stripes.  One down each side and two in equal distances on the board.  If using tubes, we suggest a figure eight, or double X pattern.  A bead of adhesive needs to go down both sides near edges.

If board wants to lift, use 3 in. by 3 in. by 1/8 in. squares of plywood squares with a dual head nails to hold panels in place until adhesive cures.  (Note: Drive nail through the plywood squares first so the nail may be worked into the joint without going through the vinyl facing).

Test adhesive before use.  Adhesive manufacturer’s installation instruction supersedes us.  (They are ultimately responsible for bond failure).

Industry Recommended Adhesive: Henry’s 317 Adhesive (Available Upon Request).
